Elk River Area Chamber Committees & Task Forces

The Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce is powered by volunteers who care deeply about our business community. Our committees and task forces provide members meaningful opportunities to lead, connect, and shape the future of our region—while building relationships and professional skills along the way.

Standing Committees (Per Chamber Bylaws)

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors provides fiduciary oversight and strategic direction for the Chamber. Comprised of 12–15 members in good standing, the Board ensures the organization remains financially sound, mission-focused, and responsive to the needs of the business community.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is made up of the Board Chair, Chair-Elect, Past Chair, and Treasurer. This committee supports and counsels the Executive Director, plans board meeting agendas, and acts on behalf of the Board between meetings, with full accountability to the full Board of Directors.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee promotes the growth and vitality of the Elk River Area Chamber by attracting, engaging, and retaining members. Through intentional outreach and relationship-building, the committee helps strengthen a connected, energized network of local businesses and professionals.

Committees

Ambassadors Committee

Chamber Ambassadors are a highly visible group of member representatives who help welcome and connect businesses to the Chamber. Ambassadors visit new members, celebrate milestones such as ribbon cuttings and expansions, and serve as a bridge between members and Chamber programs. Membership is by invitation and open to representatives of businesses in good standing.

Government Relations Committee

The Government Relations Committee supports a strong business climate by monitoring local, regional, and state public policy issues. The committee reviews matters-of-concern to the business community and makes recommendations to the Chamber Board regarding advocacy positions and potential action.

Chamber Connections Leadership Team

The Chamber Connections Leadership Team facilitates the Chamber’s Connections programs by scheduling speakers, leading meetings, and creating a welcoming environment for both new and returning attendees. Team members help foster meaningful connections, encourage participation, and ensure each session delivers value to members.

Golf Classic Committee

The Golf Classic Committee plans and delivers the Chamber’s annual golf tournament fundraiser. Committee members assist with sponsorship outreach, team recruitment, theme development, and planning the awards and networking elements that make this event both fun and impactful.

Cool Jobs Committee

The Cool Jobs Committee plans and delivers the Chamber’s annual Cool Jobs Tour, held during Manufacturing Month in October. The program introduces students to high-demand, high-tech careers in manufacturing and other industries, highlighting local employers and multiple post-secondary pathways. This committee works in partnership with local school districts, economic development partners, and area manufacturers.

Big Event Committee

The Big Event Committee plans and executes the Chamber’s signature fundraising gala. Each year, the committee develops a unique theme and oversees elements such as sponsorships, auctions, games, and networking experiences that bring the business community together for a memorable evening.

Task Forces

Community Leadership Planning Task Force

Comprised of Community Leadership Program graduates, this task force selects one session for the upcoming program year and partners with a fellow graduate to design, coordinate, and deliver that day’s program experience.

Succession Planning Task Force

A board-led task force responsible for outlining processes and best practices related to staff or board leadership transitions, ensuring organizational continuity and long-term stability.
