BUSINESS AWARDS CRITERIA
The Board of Directors of the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce instituted Business Awards to honor member businesses. In general, nominees should be those whose primary business positively impacts the Elk River region and whose business practices and professional conduct is above reproach.
General Selection Process: Businesses are encouraged to nominate themselves or a business they believe is deserving of the award. All nominees will be asked to complete a questionnaire with a chamber staff person to give the selection committee better insight as to why the business should win this award. Final selection will be made by the chamber’s board of directors. Businesses will be recognized at a membership event in early Spring.
The following categories are available:
Employer of the Year
The award will recognize the company that has created an outstanding workplace and has a committed, effective and motivated workforce as demonstrated by growth and/or strong retention. Please provide examples of workplace policies that set you apart and how they have benefited the business and its employees. Provide tangible examples of clear benefits for the selection committee to understand why your employees would agree you are the best employer. Nominations may be submitted by the employer or employees. Employee testimonials will be part of the selection process. To receive the award, the business must be an Elk River Area Chamber member in good standing.
New Business of the Year
This award is aimed at companies that have been in business for less than five years and have demonstrated innovation, creativity and is on the path to outstanding success. To receive the award, the business must be an Elk River Area Chamber member in good standing.
Business of the Year
This award will recognize the organization(s) that have been in business for at least five years. The award will feature businesses who have exhibited outstanding initiative, leadership and organizational skills which produce significant results that benefit the community. Such benefits may include excellence in customer service, conservation/energy smart practices, track record of growth including local investment and support of community organizations. To receive the award, the business must be an Elk River Area Chamber member in good standing.
Young Professional of the Year
This award will recognize an employee or business owner that is under the age of 40 as of May 31 and
· serves as a role model for young other young professionals both personally and professionally.
· is an emerging leader who demonstrates excellence, creativity and initiative in his/her business or profession
· volunteers through organizations within the area that work to improve the community
